Spring flowers in wax

 

Spring and colourful flowers are invading my surrounding. Everywhere I look flowers are blossoming and nature seems to be screaming of joy. Through my artistic eye I pictured this natural wonder in this wax painting. If you look closely enough fantasy treasures will reveal, hidden for you to be discovered.

A Pine Tree Come Alive

Nature is full of living creatures everywhere, you just have to look close enough. Butterflies and birds, mushrooms of all kinds, little mice, flies or dragonflies. They all hide in big old and wise trees. But if you look closer, smell the spell of the wood and listen to the magic flute of the wind, you will be able to discover all those invisible creatures, gnomes, elfs and dwarfs. Let them enrich your life and brighten up your day! Let magic happen!

Pinturas del bosque canario

Pintura en óleo del pino canario (marco de corteza de pino). En la corteza del pino se pueden observar las marcas del último incendio, que dan un efecto de piel de reptil a este espectacular árbol. El pino canario tiene la especial capacidad de regenerarse después de los incendios gracias a su gorda corteza, la cual lo protege del fuego y de la desecación. Además su madera tiene una gran cantidad de recina que conserva su savia para sobrevivir.

The pine tree from the Canary Islands has the special ability of surviving big forest fires. Its thick bark protects the tree form drying out after forest fires. Moreover, the tree has plenty of sap that avoids the drying out after a fire.

La mirada de un pintor, vídeos de Kitabo

Hoy os presento una secuencia de vídeos que he tomado principalmente durante mi caminata del Camino de Santiago de Compostela. Son vídeos de la naturaleza, muchos de ellos abstractos, luces, sombras, el agua o el movimiento del viento y agua. Son muestras de cómo un artista observa la naturaleza y se inspira en ella.

Today I show you a sequence of videos mainly taken during my route to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. These are nature videos, mainly abstract from shadows and light, water in movement and the wind. These videos show how an artist observes nature and gets inspired by it.

Exposición Sinfonía Fantástica

El pasado 18 de diciembre 2014 se ha inaugurado la exposición "Sinfonía Fantástica" en la Fundación Inge Stender en Frontera, El Hierro, España. En esta exposición participan cuatro artistas residentes en El Hierro. Para la inauguración la jóven Lucía Ballmann tocó dos piezas en su flauta travesera. Tengo expuestos ocho cuadros, principalmente temas del fayal herreño pintados en óleo y técnica mixta. También se mostró una composición de vídeos de la naturaleza tomados principalmente en el Camino de Santiago. Podéis verlo pinchando aquí.

Last 18th of December 2014 the opening of the exhibition "Phantastic Symphony" at the Foundation Inge Stender in Frontera, El Hierro, Spain, took place. Four artists currently living on El Hierro showed their art in this exhibition. For the opening Lucía Ballmann played two wonderful songs on her flute. I am showing eight paintings, most of which are from the forests of El Hierro, "el fayal". They are painted in oil and mixed technique. During the opening I also showed a composition of nature videos I took during on the Route to Santiago de Compostela. You can see it here.

Christmas Tale

¡Se acerca la navidad! Con éste motivo aquí os dejo unos cuantos dibujos de un cuento de navidad que he hecho el año pasado. No es la historia completa sino algunos recortes de un cuento que narra en un paisaje de nieve, con un castillo, una brujita...
Esta secuencia es pintada con tinta china.

Christmas is coming!! That is why, to bring you into the mood, here you can see some paintings of a christmas tale I wrote and painted last year. It is not the whole story but a prief preview of a tale that plays in a snowy landscape, about a little witch in a castle...
This secuence is painted with indian ink. 

Visit to Cape Verde

This summer I visited for two weeks the precious islands of Cape Verde. I was impressed by the similarity to the Canary Islands. The people there are very kind and friendly, the nature and landscapes are wonderful. You can find long beaches, rough vulcanic landscapes and also a lush and grean island. Despite the high temperatures on Fogo we went up to the plateau to admire the vulcanic landscape.
Here you can see two little impressions from Cape Verde, both watercolour and charcoal.

Este verano visité por dos semanas las preciosas islas de Cabo Verde. Lo que más me impresionó fue la similitud con las Canarias. La gente de Cabo Verde es maravillosa, al igual que la naturaleza y los paisajes de las islas. Puedes encontrar playas de arena kilométricas, un tosco paisaje volcánico e incluso una isla frondosa y verde. A pesar de las altas temperaturas en Fogo subimos a la cima de la isla a admirar el precioso paisaje volcánico.
